Nigro Construction Team Members Featured on KTNV During Women in Construction Week

During Women in Construction Week, Nigro Construction project managers Kayla Danielson and Caitlin Johnson were featured in a segment on KTNV Channel 13 highlighting the growing role of women in the construction industry across Southern Nevada.

The interview took place at the Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott construction site in North Las Vegas, where Danielson and Johnson help lead project coordination and management efforts. The project is located near Nellis Air Force Base and the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, an area experiencing steady commercial and infrastructure growth as development continues to expand along the I-15 corridor.

During the segment, the KTNV team explored how more women are entering construction and moving into leadership roles in project management and engineering, bringing valuable skills that support collaboration, coordination and problem-solving on job sites.

Danielson shared that construction offers a unique opportunity to see the tangible impact of your work in the community: “Do it. It is one of the most rewarding careers I think that you can have,” Danielson said during the interview. “You physically get to see things that you’ve built. Your day-to-day is different every day, so it’s a very exciting job to have where you're not just tied down to a desk doing the same thing over and over.”

Both leaders discussed how construction careers can come from many different backgrounds, noting that the industry increasingly welcomes professionals with diverse experience and skill sets. Women in Construction Week serves as an opportunity to highlight these career pathways while encouraging more women to explore opportunities across the industry.

Projects like the Fairfield Inn & Suites reflect the growing presence of women in leadership positions within commercial construction. Developments in this area support tourism, military families stationed at Nellis Air Force Base and event-driven travel connected to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, while also creating opportunities for local subcontractors, suppliers and hospitality workers.

The segment also highlighted how local construction companies, including Nigro Construction, are working with trade schools and workforce programs to help introduce more young women to careers in construction.

By sharing their experiences and representing the industry during Women in Construction Week, Danielson and Johnson hope to help inspire the next generation to consider construction as a dynamic and rewarding career path.

Nigro Construction is proud to see its team members helping elevate the conversation around workforce growth and opportunity while continuing to lead projects that contribute to the ongoing development of Southern Nevada.
